"What phase am I in right now?" is one of the questions we hear most often. And honestly: nobody should have to do that math in their head. So we built a small free tool.
What the calculator does
You enter two things: the first day of your last period and your cycle length (if you don't know it — 28 is the average). The Cycle Phase Calculator then shows you:
- Your current cycle day on a cycle wheel with all four phases
- Your phase today — menstruation, follicular, ovulation or luteal
- Three nutrition tips matched to exactly that phase
- When your next period is likely to start
No account, no app, no email address. Just calculate and know where you stand.
Why this is more than a gimmick
The four cycle phases are hormonally so different that energy, appetite and metabolism measurably change — in the luteal phase your metabolic rate rises by 100–300 kcal a day, for example. Once you know what phase you're in, it suddenly makes sense why Monday feels different from Thursday.
The calculator uses the most important rule of thumb in cycle math: the luteal phase stays fairly constant at around 14 days, so ovulation ≈ cycle length minus 14. On a 32-day cycle, ovulation lands around day 18 — not day 14, as often assumed.
An honest caveat belongs here too: every calculation is an estimate based on averages. Stress, sleep or illness can shift ovulation by days. The calculator is orientation, not contraception.

On the same page we also explain all four phases in detail: what happens hormonally, how you're likely to feel, and what your body needs on your plate right now.
And if you'd rather not calculate your phase every time: the Bauchgefühl app detects it automatically and suggests matching recipes.
